The notorious Gypsy thieves of Rome seem to be less prevalent these days — but thieves are still at work. Just a block from the Pantheon, I found a bag on the street. It had clearly been stolen, rifled through for any valuables, and then discarded. Returning it to a nearby police station, I remembered that if you do have a bag stolen, the chances are decent that the bag — less its valuables, of course — will show up.
