Help Me Pick Which Cities to Visit on Road Trip USA 2017

Rick Steves speaking

Along with kittens with soft whiskers and crisp apple strudel, one of my favorite things is giving travel talks. A few years ago I drove through America’s heartland, giving sold-out talks to large crowds of enthusiastic travelers. From towns high in the Rockies, through our country’s breadbasket, and into the Deep South, Rick Steves’ Road Trip USA was a huge success and lots of fun.

Since then, many have asked me to make stops in their cities. Well, I’ve listened. Next March, I’ll embark on Road Trip USA 2017. But rather than drive, I plan to fly in order to visit 10 cities in 10 days — and I’ll pick those 10 cities based on which organizations can gather the most travelers. Do you work with a library, university, performing arts center, or town hall that would like to host me for a travel lecture? If so, please email my publicist at media@ricksteves.com.

Thanks for helping make my next Road Trip USA a hit.

  1. Hi, whoever reads this please visit Washington D.C. as most museums are free to visit and many monuments. I would love for someone to show the beauty of the city not just politics. Also we have a great history of music and sports.

  2. Hi whoever reads this please come to Washington D.C. as many places are free to visit like most museums and monuments. I would love someone to show the beauty of my home city and that it is not only about politics. We also have a great music scene here and sports.

  3. Tulsa, Ok is probably not on anyone’s list. But hear me out. They have two art museums, Gilcrease is a wonderful collection of American Art. Philbrook has evrything from Renaissance, Impressionism and Modern. The Art Deco district downtown has many bars, historic Cain’s Ballroom and restaurants. The Woody Guthrie center is now the location of the Bob Dylan archive. Near by is the Long Grass preserve with herds of bison.

  4. 1) New York City

    2) Boston- I’m a Yankees fan and I love the Yankees-Red Sox rivalry. It’s also full of historic monuments

    3) Washington DC- the nation’s capital. It has a myriad of Smithsonian museums, as well as Paddleboats. It also has the beautiful (but rapidly declining) Metro system

    4) Philadelphia- basically a larger Boston

    5) Orlando- Cape Canaveral and the various amusement parks. You could do a side trip to Miami

    6) Atlanta- a large, hidden gem in the deep south

There are other cities that are popular, but I dislike for personal reasons (Chicago, Los Angeles, San Francisco, New Orleans).
