Kidnapped and Gagged in Rome—Then Rescued

The most horrible thing happened to me while doing my work in Rome. An evil man pretending to be me did all sorts of wicked things. It’s a long story…kind of a nightmare. But thankfully, three young and courageous girls — forces for cuisine justice — rescued me, and everything turned out OK. This video tells the saga of a day in Rome I’ll never forget.

  1. Very clever – those young ladies are quite good! And my kids are visiting Rome right now – I’ll recommend the restaurant to them. =)

  2. Loved this little police story and it even featured the great restaurant where I had dinner last year. What fun!

  3. Sorry Rick, that was weak! I watched it anyway just to remember Rome and I’ll certainly eat at that restaurant next time I’m there. The girls were cute though!

  4. Now, I thought everyone liked parmesan cheese on clams…UGH…LOL. This is the most different blog video I have seen from you, Rick Steves. It is a little funny, but unusual. I was at the pantheon in 2011 and always enjoyed this area of Rome. I will have to try the Restaurante Fortunato.

  5. Greetings,

If Rick wants me to play his twin just let me know.

When we met in Tampa he said we look alike and called me his Doppelganger (twin).

  7. This was so very different; I loved it! The girls were so cute!- oh and you as well Steve! Well done:)

  8. I thought it was so awesome of you to do this video. Steve has been so wonderful helping me with my accommodations throughout Europe. It was a blast to watch with my kids.
