My Turkish friends Mert and Mine, newly married and both excellent guides, take me to their favorite restaurant in Kusadasi, and the conversation turns to what makes a good call to prayer. Mert, who did his military service in Afghanistan with NATO, has some strong thoughts.

I found this to be quite educational. It had never occurred to me that there would be variations of the call to prayer in different parts of the world, but, of course, it makes perfect sense. Very interesting.
I recently spent some time at an interfaith meeting at a Mosque in Virginia and its amazing the differnece in Calls to Prayer. I spent a month in Turkey in 2002 and its so different than here. RICK..question…was given a trip to Greece/Turkey in NOV. Taking my twins and we are one of the 8,000t tourist packing Kusadasi. Can you send me an email what resteraunt you visited. When I went in 2002, I stayed with locals and hit all the good places with them in the villiages I visited (Denzili, Marmaras, Isir, Cese, etc). Want to go to the one you went.
