Breakfast at the Four Seasons Cairo Nile View

Here’s a quick tour of what’s probably the most expensive breakfast in all of Cairo, served at what’s likely the fanciest hotel in North Africa. While I’m not one to capitalize on a country’s economic misfortune, luxury hotels have rooms on the push list these days in Egypt.

  1. Great job you’re doing. I live in Cairo, at the US Embassy. Two of your fans who are friends of mine just called your blog to my attention. You really capture the sense and feel of tourism in Cairo. I haven’t finished reading all your entries for Cairo, but hope you have seen or are seeing Old Cairo — Coptic Cairo — and the pyramids at Saqqara and Dahshur, which are more interesting, in my view, than Giza. That is, except for the “solar boat” museum at Giza, which is fascinating — a large vessel more than 4000 years old.

If there’s any way I can assist you (anonymously), please email me and I’ll reply with phone numbers.

  2. Wow! Do they have a time limit for how long guests may take to eat their breakfasts? Looks like it could take a week to do the buffet justice! Thanks for the fun glimpse. ;-)

  3. I’ve been a fan of yours since the early 90’s and you’re the reason that my wife and I decided to make our first overseas trip (to England). We now live and work in Cairo and we’re glad to see you here. No one back home believes us when we say that we feel safe here. Thanks for capturing the feeling of this amazing place.
