Bernini’s Apollo Chasing Daphne (in Rome’s Borghese Gallery) is my favorite statue in the history of European art. View the video below, and hopefully you’ll see why.

AMAZING, thank you so much for such a thorough look at such a beautiful statue. You are very lucky to have had the opportunity to spend some alone time in the gallery. Can we ask for the Ecstasy of St. Theresa for an encore. Wishful thinking
“This is such an evocative sculpture, and I am mesmerized by it every time I see it. Thanks for sharing your intimate alone-time with this magnificent work of art.
I just got back from Italy 2 weeks ago and of course spent the day at the Borghese Gardens and toured the gallery. A special thank you to Rick who suggested we do the picture gallery first and backtrack. That meant we were all alone with Apollo and Daphne and of course Napolean`s sister. To be alone with some if not the greatest works of art in the world is indescribable. Two others joined us after about 10 minutes who also had heard about Rick Steeves and and his tip for visiting the Borghese. If Rick hasn`t done the Gallery of Antique Art there is a certain ceiling that far outshines the Sistine Chapel. Check it out…
