  1. The photos are great, Rick, and they add a beautiful dimension to the tales of your travel experiences. Thanks for sharing.

  2. Rick, adding my thanks for photos with blogs, these do provide “a thousand words,” extra to your fine commentary. And by the way, after viewing again the picture of a “very tired rick,” your time-out times are self-evidently even more needed. Though a scruffy, eye-glass-less rick does give the blog even a bit more reality. Just do not make this image a habit, such as at your next travel/teaching weekend. You’ll scare off potential travelers!

  3. Catching up with your comments and photos after my own lengthy, tiring driving trip to cool, sunny Lake Placid and Saratoga Springs was fun. By the way, the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act otherwise known as the economic stimulus program has cut in big time during the past few weeks. The roads are under construction in every Eastern state. I enjoyed business hotels everywhere I went in Europe on business. They compensated for jet lag and having to be on my toes with European colleagues and customers. But one of my favorite places was a private home you recommended on the Mosul where we stayed with Gertrude and Gunter who I hope are still riding their bikes to the doctor at their ripe old ages. Gunter got in trouble with his wife for fixing us a rich, fatty, delicious breakfast and partaking himself despite strict doctor’s orders. Sometimes you just have to throw common sense and caution to the winds if you want enjoy life. bill

  4. Ah, there they are! I commented a few weeks ago asking where the pictures were–I didn’t realize that you go through and add them after finishing a trip, so sorry for the impatience. Anyway, the photos are fabulous and it makes it so fun to be able to put an image with the words. Nice work.

  5. This is one of the best blogs I've ever read. You've got some mad skill here. I just hope that you dont lose your style because youre definitely one of the coolest bloggers out there. Please keep it up because the internet needs someone like you spreading the word.
