After 30 years of cruising the romantic Rhine gorge on nostalgic old riverboats, I still get a thrill. Imagine riding this majestic old steamboat from village to village, visiting ruined castles and enjoying the local hospitality.

My husband and I took the Goethe roundtrip from Koblenz to Rudesheim and back to Koblenz. The steamer left about 9am from Koblenz and we got back about 8pm. We had about an hour in Rudesheim before the return. We stopped at many charming towns along the way. The fare was about 15 euros per person. They offered discounts for students and seniors. It was a great way to see the Rhine on a day trip.
