Day 4: Rocky Mountain Lullaby

I’m just too busy in Colorado to write a blog entry today. Napping here on a rocky crag at Colorado National Monument — surrounded by a vast canyon and red rocks, and winded from breathtaking drives over 10,000-foot passes — I’ve got piles of notes but no time to write. After my Rocky Mountain nap, we’re heading to Colorado Springs. Driving by Vail and Breckenridge on such a gorgeous day makes me wonder “What was I thinking?” not to schedule a day for skiing. Anyway, forgive my laziness. Tomorrow I’ll share the full scoop.

  1. Looks like some well deserved rest Rick. Thanks for letting us share your journey. Remember God always spoke from the mountaintops–it’s holy ground.

  2. As a long time Rick Steves enthusiast (many guides and two trips) I was somewhat disappointed in Rick’s talk in Colorado Springs last night. Way too much sales promotion and not enough about his travel experiences and the need for Americans to understand the importance of experiencing other cultures.

  3. Certainly seems to me like a word to the wise from Jo Orborn. If there is anything a business person learns it is to LISTEN.

  4. Business’s which do best over the long haul are those which put the customer first. And employees a very close second. I had one. Steves didn’t just fall off a turnip truck. He knows this. But he has to guard carefully against internal and external marketeers trying to ingratiate themselves and make an extra fast buck by convincing him to become just another huckster.
